FOCUS ON….. Cotswold Stone
Being situated in the heart of the Cotswolds, when we think of natural stone, we automatically visualise our local, honey-coloured stone. Cotswold stone is an oolitic limestone which is a sedimentary rock composed of calcium carbonate. The colour of this stone changes as you move through the Cotswolds from light coloured Bath or Painswick stone through the golden hues of the central Cotswolds to a richer, more orange tone as you head North into Oxfordshire.
Cotswold stone has been a popular building material since the middle ages and is still being quarried Today. Its many uses include building stone and masonry, walling stone and stone roofing.
At Winchcombe Reclamation, we stock a wide range of Cotswold stone building materials suitable for all projects including large batches of reclaimed Building and walling stone.
